Kuniko Mukoda 45th anniversary feature released by Shincho QUE

Shincho QUE is hosting a special feature to mark the 45th anniversary of the passing of renowned Japanese author Kuniko Mukoda, who died in a plane crash in 1981 at age 51.

The feature includes a dialogue between Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki and actress Jun Fubuki regarding Mukoda’s television scripts. It also features interviews with her sister, Kazuko Mukoda, and insights from a curator at the Kagoshima Museum of Modern Literature regarding why Mukoda’s works continue to resonate deeply with readers in their 40s.

Additionally, the collection includes digital releases of her representative works and previously unreleased lecture audio, including a remastered recording titled ‘Words are Scary’ and a 1980 recording of Mukoda speaking with fans following her Naoki Prize win for ‘Omoide Trump’.
