Desa Emas program promotes product downstreaming in Kuningan

The Desa Emas (Advanced and Prosperous Village) program is promoting the development of superior village products in Kuningan Regency, West Java, using the One Village One Product (OVOP) concept. Initiated by the Yayasan Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia (Inotek) and Yayasan Indonesia Setara (YIS) with local government support, the program aims to increase product value, expand local markets, and create jobs.

Sandiaga Uno, founder of YIS, noted that while Kuningan possesses diverse natural resources in agriculture, plantations, livestock, fisheries, and forestry, many commodities are still sold as raw materials or simple processed goods. This limits the added value for local businesses. To address challenges such as limited product variety and inadequate preservation methods, the program held downstreaming training workshops on September 10–11, 2026, at UPTD PLUT KUMKM Kuningan.

The training was conducted in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). According to Dewi Suryani, General Manager of Yayasan Inotek, the workshop was attended by 52 participants from eight business groups, focusing on transforming raw materials into high-value, competitive products through research-backed technology.
