Kunle Afolayan celebrates 51st birthday and filmmaking legacy
Nigerian filmmaker, actor, and producer Kunle Afolayan is celebrating his 51st birthday. The son of the late veteran filmmaker Adeyemi Afolayan, Kunle has become a prominent figure in Nollywood, known for works that integrate Nigerian history, culture, and folklore.
His directorial career includes notable films such as ‘Irapada’, ‘The Figurine’, ‘Phone Swap’, ‘October 1’, ‘The CEO’, and ‘Aníkúlápó’. His work often explores themes of identity, tradition, and contemporary Nigerian society, reaching international audiences through various streaming partnerships and cinema releases.
Beyond film production, Afolayan has expanded into tourism and hospitality with the KAP Film Village and Resort. Spanning approximately 64 acres, the destination was developed from permanent film sets used during the production of ‘Aníkúlápó’ and now features accommodation, recreational facilities, and various film props.
