Kunming International Flower Auction Center leads Asian flower trade

The Kunming International Flower Auction Center (KIFA), located within the Dounan Flower Market in Yunnan Province, operates as Asia’s largest flower auction platform. Often referred to as the ‘barometer’ of China’s flower market, the center facilitates high-speed transactions to manage perishable goods.

In 2025, the Dounan Flower Market traded approximately 15.476 billion flower stems, valued at 13.484 billion yuan (roughly $2 billion USD). The market is a critical hub for the industry, supplying seven out of every ten cut flowers sold in China and distributing products to over 50 countries and regions.

KIFA utilizes a ‘Dutch auction’ model, where prices start high and decrease incrementally on electronic displays. To ensure rapid turnover of perishable stock, buyers must act quickly; transactions can be completed in as little as 0.6 seconds.
