Kunsthalle Bremen hosts exhibition on dachshunds in art

The Kunsthalle Bremen in Germany has launched “The Dachshund: An Icon off the Leash,” an exhibition exploring the history of the dachshund in art. Museum director Christoph Grunenberg noted that the show is believed to be the first exhibition dedicated specifically to the dachshund rather than dogs in general.

The collection features paintings, drawings, photography, and video from notable artists who were dachshund owners or fans, including Pablo Picasso, David Hockney, and Andy Warhol. The exhibition also includes stuffed toys, bronze sculptures, and various dachshund-themed objects.

Items in the display were sourced from various locations, including Edinburgh, Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh, as well as the Dachshund Museum in Regensburg. Visitors are permitted to bring their own dachshunds to the exhibition.
