Kuomintang implements vote allocation system for Taipei City Council elections

The Kuomintang (KMT) Taipei City branch has implemented a vote allocation system for the upcoming city council elections to maximize seat counts. For the Zhongzheng and Wanhua district, the party has assigned specific candidates to voters based on their birth months: Chung Hsiao-ping (January–March), Chang Yen-ting (April–June), Kuo Chao-yen (July–September), and Wu Chih-kang (October–December).

This strategy has faced backlash from some supporters, including members of the ‘Little Grass’ group, who flooded social media with comments demanding that votes originally assigned to Chung Hsiao-ping be redirected to People's Party candidate Wu Yi-hsuan. This resistance stems partly from Chung’s past criticisms of People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je.

Taipei City Council Speaker Tai Hsi-chin stated that the party aims for a ‘33-seat home run’ through this coordinated effort. Regarding cooperation with the People's Party, Tai noted that while the KMT recognizes the importance of blue-white cooperation to ensure municipal stability, Mayor Chiang Wan-an will only appear at joint campaign events rather than campaigning for individual People's Party candidates.
