Kupwara security forces foil infiltration attempt along LoC

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara district on Saturday morning. Alert troops noticed suspicious movement in the Jumgund area, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire after the infiltrators were challenged.

A search operation is currently underway in the area, though official confirmation and further details are still awaited. This incident follows a similar attempt in the Poonch district last week, where four terrorists, including a top commander, were killed.

Security agencies have also raised alarms regarding intelligence suggesting approximately 500 terrorists are stationed at launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). There are concerns that militants may attempt to cross into Indian territory before heavy winter snowfall closes traditional mountain routes. In response, the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) have increased vigilance and heightened alert levels along both the LoC and the International Border.
