Kurdistan oil and gas production halted over security concerns

Gulf Keystone temporarily shut down output at the Shaikan oil field in Iraq's Kurdistan Region, citing a deteriorating regional security environment. The company said the precautionary halt aligns with actions taken by other international oil operators and gave no timeline for when production will resume.

Dana Gas announced that production at the Kormor gas field in Sulaymaniyah will restart in a phased manner after receiving official security guarantees from both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi central government. The field had been suspended after a series of armed UAV attacks, and the company said the security situation will be continuously monitored. Kurdish Prime Minister Masrur Barzani has urged the Iraqi government to provide an air‑defence system to protect the region from further drone threats.
