Kurri Kurri police seize weapons and drugs during firearms raid

During a search warrant executed in Kurri Kurri on Thursday morning, police seized a variety of illegal items including a homemade crossbow, crossbow darts, a slingshot, a replica firearm, and firearm parts. Officers also recovered 188 grams of cannabis, six small cannabis plants, an ammunition loading device, electronic devices, and chemical powders used to manufacture gunpowder.

A 42-year-old man was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station. He faces charges of drug possession, cultivating a prohibited plant, and two counts of prohibited weapon possession. The individual was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Kurri Kurri Local Court in November.

The raid was part of a week-long action by the National Illicit Firearms Working Group, which resulted in 39 arrests. The New South Wales component of the operation was led by the State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad, supported by the Australian Border Force and hundreds of other officers.
