Kurt Okraku remains undecided on third-term GFA presidential bid

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku has declined to confirm whether he will seek a third term in the 2027 presidential elections. The possibility follows a 2025 statute amendment approved by the GFA Congress, which allows presidents to serve a maximum of three terms. The amendment passed with 114 votes in favor out of 124 members present.

Okraku, who has led the association since 2019, stated that his current focus is on his existing mandate and repositioning football in the country. He noted that there is approximately 18 months remaining before the next elective General Assembly and indicated he would speak on his intentions when the time is appropriate.

Okraku first assumed the presidency in 2019 following the work of a Normalisation Committee and secured a second term in 2023 after George Afriyie was disqualified from the race. Additionally, reports have suggested former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew may consider a bid for the GFA presidency in 2027.
