Kurt Olsen resigns from DOJ grand conspiracy investigation

Kurt Olsen, a former White House election security official and lawyer who challenged the 2020 election results, has resigned from the Justice Department. Olsen was working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida on a “grand conspiracy” investigation.

The probe seeks to determine if officials from the Obama and Biden administrations conspired against Donald Trump. The investigation has faced significant instability, with Olsen being the second high-profile departure in recent weeks following the resignation of Joseph diGenova, the prosecutor previously leading the inquiry.

Reports indicate the investigation has seen multiple staffing changes, with some sources suggesting between four and eight prosecutors have left the case. The probe has also focused on whether intelligence and law enforcement officials interfered with Trump’s rights, including examining the 2016 Russia investigation and the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. Former CIA Director John Brennan has reportedly been identified as a target in a related investigation and may be subpoenaed to testify in Fort Pierce on October 25.
