Kurtalan-Siirt Railway Project reaches 30 percent completion

The Kurtalan-Siirt Railway Project has reached a 30 percent physical completion rate. The 34-kilometer project aims to connect Siirt to the national railway network, with an estimated current cost of approximately 22 billion lira.

Siirt Governor Dr. Kemal Kızılkaya recently inspected the construction site, including the T1 Tunnel, which is 800 meters long with 400 meters currently completed. The project features nine tunnels, with approximately 24 kilometers of the total route consisting of tunnel sections. The line is designed for an operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

The project includes the construction of three stations: Kurtalan, Siirt Airport, and Siirt center. Completion of the line to Siirt Airport is expected by late 2028, with the full project, including the Siirt Station, projected for completion by late 2030. The infrastructure is intended to support regional development in trade, industry, tourism, and employment.
