Kurume-Chikugo bus routes replaced by taxi-operated wagons
Following the discontinuation of Nishitetsu Bus routes in late September, alternative transportation services have commenced in the Fukuoka Prefecture region. The Nishimuta Line, which previously connected JR Kurume Station and JR Haizuka Station, was abolished due to difficulties in securing drivers.
To prevent a gap in public transit, Kurume Nishitetsu Taxi has taken over parts of the service using 10-passenger wagons. The new route covers approximately 16.5 kilometers, including stops at Nishitetsu Daizenji Station. This transition from medium-sized buses to smaller vehicles operated by taxi drivers aims to address the driver shortage while maintaining service frequency.
In Saga Prefecture, the Emi Line (Route 45) connecting Kurume and Saga has also seen a transition to Joixs Kotsu. While the vehicle colors have changed, the schedules, fares, and bus stop facilities remain largely consistent to ensure continuity for commuters.
