Sri Lanka levels ODI series against England after Headingley win

Sri Lanka has leveled the three-match ODI series against England 1-1 following a 16-run victory in the second match at Headingley. Captain Kusal Mendis led the visitors with a significant century, scoring 121 runs off 100 balls, while Kamindu Mendis contributed 54 to help Sri Lanka reach a total of 321 for 6.

England’s chase was initially bolstered by a 143-run opening partnership between Ben Duckett and Tom Banton, but the momentum shifted when Dunith Wellalage claimed three crucial wickets, including both openers and Harry Brook. England finished on 305 for 9.

England captain Jos Buttler suffered a left hamstring injury during the chase. After retiring hurt on 67, he briefly returned to the crease but was dismissed for 69. Due to the injury, Buttler has been ruled out of the series decider at The Oval, with Dan Lawrence called up to the squad as his replacement.
