Kusanagi sword history and its connection to Yamato Takeru
An exploration of the historical and mythological significance of the Kusanagi sword, one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan.
According to historical accounts, Yamato Takeru, the second son of Emperor Keiko, received the Kusanagi sword at the Ise Grand Shrine in Mie Prefecture while preparing for his expedition to pacify the eastern regions. The sword was later enshrined as a primary deity at Atsuta Jingu in Aichi Prefecture.
