Qusra Palestinian families besieged by Israeli settlers
Three Palestinian families in the village of Qusra, located in the occupied West Bank, have been under siege by Israeli settlers for approximately ten to eleven days. The blockade, which has occurred in the Ras al-Ayn area, has restricted movement and access to essential supplies. While water and electricity services were partially restored after being cut, residents face acute shortages of food and medicine.
Thirteen people, including children and an elderly woman, are currently trapped in the besieged homes. The Israeli military has declared the surrounding area a closed military zone. Local officials and human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have expressed concern that the siege is part of a coordinated pattern of settler violence intended to displace Palestinian residents from their land.
Luai Abu Rida, a Palestinian-American and co-owner of one of the properties, returned from the United States to defend his family's home. He has displayed a US flag on the roof in an effort to draw international attention to the situation. Unicef has provided some emergency aid, including food, water, and hygiene items, to the families.
