Kuğulu Park swans receive specialized care and dietary warnings

Kuğulu Park in Ankara is currently home to 18 swans, including 14 adults and four 1.5-month-old hatchlings. To ensure their healthy development and protect them from potential harm, the young swans are being kept in a dedicated area alongside their parents.

Expert Veterinarian Onur Yüksel from the Çankaya Municipality Veterinary Affairs Directorate stated that the swans receive daily care and age-specific nutrition. Their diet consists of specially formulated feed and green leafy vegetables, such as lettuce, to mimic their natural consumption of green algae.

Authorities have issued a warning to park visitors regarding human food. Veterinarians emphasize that feeding the swans bread, simit, chips, or crackers can cause serious health issues, shorten their lifespan, and negatively impact their reproductive capabilities. Visitors are urged to refrain from providing any food other than the specialized diet provided by municipal teams.
