Kuumet releases new single ‘Narcosis’ from upcoming album
The Finnish progressive rock band Kuumet has released ‘Narcosis’, the second single from their upcoming album ‘Nova’. The track explores themes of modern dopamine addiction, describing a state of constant stimulation driven by screens, work, and food that serves as a form of psychological first aid.
Lyricist Jussi Moilanen noted that the song reflects a world where people struggle to endure boredom, instead turning to various forms of ‘medication’—both material and immaterial—to maintain a dream-like state. The band’s musical style draws influence from 1970s progressive rock and the melodic side of 1990s heavy rock, incorporating cinematic layers and jazz-inspired melodies.
‘Nova’ is scheduled for release in early 2026 via Inverse Records. The band features members Matti Mielikäinen, Jussi Moilanen, Anna-Kaisa Kettunen, Janne Koskinen, and Vesa Ranta.
