Kuwait and Egypt announce preparations for new academic year

Educational authorities in Kuwait and Egypt have announced preparations for the upcoming academic year, highlighting significant structural and logistical updates.

In Kuwait, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training has confirmed readiness to welcome approximately 56,000 students across its colleges and institutes. Director General Dr. Hassan Mohammed Al-Fajjam conducted inspections to ensure the completion of civil, electrical, and technical maintenance. Preparations include the readiness of five applied colleges and eight training institutes, updated laboratories, sports facilities, and enhanced security camera networks. To support student mobility, the authority has secured 246 buses, including specialized transport for students with disabilities, and provides 24-hour transportation for scholarship students.

In Egypt, the Ministry of Education is introducing qualitative shifts aimed at aligning secondary education with future labor market demands. Dr. Akram Hassan, Assistant Minister of Education, noted the transition from the traditional high school system to the ‘Egyptian Baccalaureate’ model, which spans two years and focuses on analytical thinking over rote memorization. The new curriculum will incorporate subjects such as programming and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the ministry is implementing electronic attendance systems using fingerprint technology to improve school discipline and ensure the preservation of national identity through the continued teaching of Arabic and Egyptian history.
