Kuwait and Pakistan Finalize Defense Cooperation Agreement

Kuwait has ratified a Defense Cooperation Agreement with Pakistan, publishing a decree‑law in the official gazette that approves the pact signed on 11 June 2023 in Kuwait City. The agreement creates a framework for military education, training, personnel exchanges, logistical support, scientific and technological research, and the sharing of military intelligence.

A joint military committee, chaired by officials appointed by the two defence ministers, will oversee implementation and meet annually. The pact includes reciprocal financial arrangements for official visits, strict safeguards for classified information that survive the agreement’s term, and a dispute‑resolution mechanism based on direct consultations rather than courts. It does not affect either country’s existing international obligations.
