Kuwait approves tuition fee hikes for private Arab and Pakistani schools

Kuwait’s Ministry of Education has approved tuition fee increases for private Arab and Pakistani schools, effective from the start of the current academic year. The new regulations aim to standardize fee structures and clarify operational guidelines.

Under the decision, schools with annual fees between KD250 and KD450 are permitted a 15 per cent increase, while those charging KD451 or more may increase fees by 10 per cent. These increases can only be applied once. To assist families, the ministry has mandated a payment mechanism consisting of three equal instalments due at the start of the first, second, and third terms.

The ministry has issued strict warnings to schools, prohibiting them from denying students access to education, preventing them from sitting examinations, or withholding academic results due to unpaid fees. Additionally, schools are barred from changing the approved instalment schedules or exceeding the permitted percentage increases. Schools must also make their approved fee structures clearly available to parents via websites or noticeboards.
