Kuwait arrests Sri Lankan driver for drug trafficking

Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a Sri Lankan national and a Bangladeshi citizen as part of a crackdown on narcotics smuggling and illegal activities.

In one specific case, a Sri Lankan domestic driver was apprehended in the Ardiya area. Following an investigation involving surveillance footage, police discovered the suspect was allegedly distributing drugs while performing duties as a family driver. A search of the suspect’s living quarters at his employer’s residence yielded 469.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 0.7 grams of marijuana, a digital weighing scale, and KD 285.950 in cash.

Investigators also identified financial records showing transfers totaling KD 6,573 to individuals in Sri Lanka. The suspect reportedly admitted to possessing the drugs for distribution and coordinating trafficking with an accomplice outside of Kuwait. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has urged employers to remain vigilant regarding the use of household vehicles and residences for illegal activities.
