Kuwait Red Crescent Society celebrates 60 years of humanitarian service
The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is celebrating its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of humanitarian service since its establishment in January 1966. During the commemoration, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, Minister of Social Affairs, emphasized that the society embodies Kuwaiti values of solidarity and compassion, noting that the nation's status as a 'humanitarian center' was solidified in 2014.
KRCS Chairman Khaled Al-Maghams highlighted the organization's recent impact, noting that between October 2024 and September 2026, the society operated in 13 countries. This included 27 flights transporting approximately 550 tons of aid. A major component of these efforts was the ‘Gaza Joy’ campaign, which delivered 400 tons of food supplies to the Gaza Strip, alongside relief convoys to Syria, Sudan, and Yemen.
Representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross praised the society's adherence to humanitarian principles. Looking forward, Minister Al-Huwaila stated that the milestone serves as an opportunity to modernize response tools, invest in national talent, utilize new technologies, and increase youth volunteerism.
