Kuwait revokes citizenship of 30 individuals

Kuwait has revoked or declared the loss of citizenship for 30 individuals following a government review of nationality cases. The actions were detailed in the Official Gazette, Kuwait Alyoum.

Two decrees issued on August 11 at Al-Seif Palace resulted in the withdrawal of citizenship for six individuals. Under Decree No. 128, the certificates of five people were revoked, a measure that also applies to individuals who obtained nationality through dependency on those affected. A separate Decree No. 129 revoked the citizenship of Iman Sharif Najm Abdullah Hanyan Al-Shammari. These decrees followed recommendations from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and received approval from the Council of Ministers.

Additionally, the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation issued Decision No. 14/76 of 2026, declaring the citizenship of 24 more individuals lost under Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law. This decision, approved by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah in his capacity as committee chairman, involves members of several families, including the Al-Otaibi, Al-Rashidi, Al-Omairi, Al-Hajri, and Al-Ajmi families. Government authorities have been directed to implement these measures.
