Kuwait shuts down Iranian private school amid regional tensions

Kuwait’s Ministry of Education revoked the licence of an Iranian‑run private school and ordered its closure, citing compliance with private‑education laws and recommendations from the General Administration of Private Education. The decision, issued by Minister Eng. Sayed Jalal Al‑Tabtabai, cancels the school’s renewed licence, halts new admissions for the 2026‑2027 academic year and instructs parents of current students to transfer their children to other schools.

The move follows similar actions in the Gulf, where authorities have closed Iranian‑linked institutions after repeated attacks on the region during the ongoing Middle East conflict. Kuwait officials said the closure is intended to safeguard public interest and ensure continuity of education for affected pupils.
