Gold prices fall in Egypt as euro drops against the Egyptian pound

Egypt’s bullion market saw a modest decline on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. The price of 21‑carat gold fell to about 5,825 EGP per gram for sales and 5,775 EGP for purchases, while 24‑carat gold steadied around 6,657 EGP per gram. The local ounce price slipped to roughly $4,155, a drop of $19.77 (‑0.47%).

At the same time, the euro weakened against the Egyptian pound, slipping to the 55 EGP range — the first time it has been below 60 EGP since June. Major banks quoted buying rates near 55.7 EGP and selling rates near 55.9 EGP.

The global dip in gold prices also affected regional traders in Santa Cruz, where the 24‑karat gram now trades at about $133.59. Local jewelers are monitoring the trend as it influences profit margins and consumer demand.
