Kuzey Star Shipyard acquires Uljanik brodogradnja 1856

The Turkish shipyard Kuzey Star Shipyard has signed an agreement to acquire a 97.13 percent stake in the Pula-based company Uljanik brodogradnja 1856. The deal is valued at over 12 million euros, exceeding the initial asking price of approximately 11 million euros.

As part of the agreement, the new investor has committed to maintaining shipbuilding and ship repair activities at the Pula site, covering the entire maritime area included in the concession. The acquisition aims to modernize production processes and focus on the development of hybrid and environmentally friendly vessels to support the green transition.

Croatian Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar described the sale as a turning point that could signal a renaissance for the national shipbuilding industry, moving away from state subsidies toward profitable, private-sector-led growth. The investor intends to preserve the company's 170-year tradition while restoring its competitiveness within the European market.
