European football updates: KV Mechelen wins, STVV prepares for Conference League

In Belgian football, KV Mechelen secured a 4-3 victory over STVV in a high-scoring match featuring two own goals. The win provides Mechelen with its first victory of the season and relief for the coaching staff, while STVV faces a difficult period following its third consecutive defeat.

STVV is also preparing for a historic milestone as it enters the UEFA Conference League for the first time, scheduled to face FC Iberia 1999.

In the Netherlands, FC Twente is set to begin its Conference League campaign against Swiss side FC Thun. Analysts note that Thun's defensive vulnerabilities, particularly in the spaces behind their attacking full-backs, may provide opportunities for Twente.

Elsewhere in the Jupiler Pro League, Royal Antwerp FC is under scrutiny following a heavy 5-1 loss to Westerlo. Head coach Marvin Compper has faced criticism regarding his tactical decisions and in-game management during the defeat.
