Kvarner region showcases new restaurants and heritage video series
The coastal Kvarner area in Croatia is experiencing a surge in gastronomic offerings. Several new eateries have opened, including the family‑run Konoba Volta, the specialty coffee‑by‑day, cocktail‑by‑night Hidden Jam, Trattoria Confin, Martini’s on Volosko, Bokka in Opatija, and the Italian‑style tavern La Tavernetta di Draga. These venues emphasize fresh, locally sourced ingredients and modern twists on traditional Mediterranean cuisine.
At the same time, the Tourist Board of Kvarner has launched the "Nona Chef" video series to document and preserve family recipes handed down through generations. The series highlights the region’s three culinary traditions—coastal, island and mountain—and reinforces Kvarner’s recent designation as the European Region of Gastronomy 2026. Both the new restaurant openings and the heritage‑focused media project aim to boost tourism and celebrate the area’s culinary culture.
