Kvarner tourism sees visitor increase despite German market decline
The Kvarner region in Croatia reported an increase in tourism for August, with approximately 812,000 visitors, marking a 2% rise compared to the previous year. Total overnight stays for the month remained consistent with last year's results, contributing to a cumulative total of nearly 3 million arrivals and 15 million overnight stays during the first eight months of the year.
Despite the overall growth, officials noted a decline in the traditional German market, which saw a 4% drop in arrivals and a 5% decrease in overnight stays during August. This deficit was offset by significant growth from Central European markets, including Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Poland, as well as an increase in domestic visitors. Discussions regarding regional development focused on extending the tourist season and enhancing competitiveness through higher-quality offerings.
