KVB Line 13 to face multi-week disruptions for track repairs
The Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) will implement several weeks of service disruptions on Cologne's Stadtbahn Line 13 due to infrastructure upgrades. Between September 21 and October 16, the line will be partially disconnected to facilitate the replacement of tracks, switches, and sleepers in the Braunsfeld and Ehrenfeld areas. The project, costing approximately 1.2 million euros, includes renewing the track triangle at Scheidtweiler Straße and the section leading to Venloer Straße/Gürtel.
The construction will occur in two phases. From September 21 to September 26, service will be suspended between Aachener Straße/Gürtel and Melatengürtel, with no replacement bus service provided during this initial window.
From September 26 to October 16, more significant restrictions will apply. Line 13 will not run between Aachener Straße/Gürtel and Nußbaumerstraße. During this period, KVB will deploy replacement bus service (Line 113) to cover the 2.5-kilometer stretch, stopping at Melatengürtel, Weinsbergstraße/Gürtel, Venloer Straße/Gürtel, Bahnhof Ehrenfeld, and Subbelrather Straße/Gürtel. Regular through-service on Line 13 is expected to resume on October 17.
