KVC Westerlo Samsunspor pre‑season friendly Norman Bassette Belgian Pro League

Belgian club KVC Westerlo ended its pre‑season preparations with a 1‑2 loss to Turkish side Samsunspor. Forward Norman Bassette opened the scoring, giving Westerlo a 1‑0 lead at halftime, but the visitors turned the match around in the second half.

Coach Issame Charaï said the defeat highlighted the team's lack of balance, creativity in midfield and aerial strength, noting that no club is fully ready at this stage of the season. He emphasized the need to reinforce the attacking line and improve set‑piece play. Westerlo will open its league campaign next weekend against Union Saint‑Gilloise.

The club has already sold half of its squad for €26 million this summer and now faces a rebuilding phase ahead of the Belgian Pro League season.
