Kévin Vauquelin wins 2026 Giro d’Abruzzo overall title

French cyclist Kévin Vauquelin of Netcompany-Ineos won the 2026 Giro d’Abruzzo, securing both the final stage victory and the general classification title. The decisive fourth stage spanned 182 kilometers from Silvi to Controguerra.

Vauquelin won the stage in a sprint, finishing ahead of compatriot Mathys Rondel of Tudor Pro Cycling and Italian Nicola Conci of XDS-Astana Development. Through time bonuses, Vauquelin secured the overall lead with a two-second margin over Rondel and a five-second margin over Alessandro Fancellu.

The four-day competition traversed various regions of Abruzzo, including Popoli, Caramanico Terme, and Teramo. The event received significant international media coverage, including broadcasts on Eurosport, TNT Sports, and streaming via Prime Video.

Regional officials noted the event's success in promoting local tourism and confirmed that major cycling events, including the Tirreno-Adriatico and the Giro d’Italia, are scheduled to return to the region in 2027.
