Kwalee and Chris Cote announce horror-themed RPG Welcome to Elderfield

British publisher Kwalee and independent programmer Chris Cote have announced ‘Welcome to Elderfield’, an unconventional game that blends life-simulation mechanics with H.P. Lovecraft-inspired horror.

Set in a rural village, the game allows players to engage in traditional activities such as farming, decorating homes, fishing, and building relationships or marriages with residents. However, these peaceful tasks are juxtaposed with supernatural elements, including investigations into mysterious entities known as the ‘Old Gods’ and the exploration of dungeons.

The game features a hand-drawn visual style inspired by horror manga and a lo-fi soundtrack by the artist Dated. Unique gameplay elements include unconventional farming, where players can plant items like teeth or eyeballs, and managing farms against forest creatures.
