Kwame Danso District Police Station reopens after ten-month shutdown
The Kwame Danso District Police Station in Ghana's Bono East Region has officially reopened after a ten-month shutdown. The closure followed a violent incident on December 10, 2025, when a mob of approximately 100 youths stormed the district court to forcibly free suspects and subsequently attacked the police headquarters.
In response to the vandalism and threats against personnel, the Police Administration and the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) withdrew services from the district. This created a security vacuum that impacted local businesses, crime reporting, and the ability of residents to seek judicial recourse.
During the reopening ceremony, District Chief Executive Khaari Fuseini apologized for the previous violence, stating, “Never again will this happen in Kwame Danso.” Regional Police Commander DCOP Shaibu Sadique-Osei emphasized a commitment to service, while Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi noted that regional development is tied to peace and stability.
