Kwankwasiyya supporters protest INEC candidate exclusion in Kano
Supporters of the Kwankwasiyya Movement held a protest in Kano against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the exclusion of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate from the official list.
Led by deputy governorship candidate Mustapha Kwankwaso, the group submitted a formal petition on behalf of candidate Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo. Protesters alleged that the group had met all necessary regulations and accused an INEC official of potentially colluding with unauthorized individuals to substitute candidates.
Abdu Zango, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano, received the delegation and stated that the commission would forward the petition to the national headquarters. Zango noted that the reasons for the omission had been outlined and informed the group that a window for appeal remains open until October 24, 2026. He also commended the protesters for maintaining an orderly and peaceful demonstration.
