Kwara State APC backs Yakubu Danladi Salihu for 2027 governorship

Members of the Kwara State House of Assembly unanimously endorsed Speaker Yakubu Danladi Salihu as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election, asserting that a valid primary was held and presenting video evidence of the process. The legislators, led by House Leader Abdulkadir Magaji, also voiced support for incumbent Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second‑term bid.

Separately, ten APC governorship aspirants and the party’s Elders Caucus warned of an alleged scheme to involve traditional rulers in a visit to thank President Tinubu for backing Danladi. The aspirants denied any consensus candidate, emphasizing that monarchs should remain insulated from partisan politics and accusing planners of trying to “drag our Royal Fathers into an intraparty matter.”
