Kwara State bandits kidnap community leader's wife and 23-year-old woman

The Kwara South Development Forum (KSDF) has called for urgent government intervention following the abduction of two women in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

On Friday, August 21, 2026, bandits kidnapped Iya Ayoka, the first wife of the Baale (community head) of Dabu. Additionally, the group highlighted the ongoing captivity of 23-year-old Babatunde Fasilat, who was taken from the Wande community on July 15. Abductors have reportedly demanded ₦20 million for Fasilat’s release and have used her TikTok account to communicate demands.

The KSDF accused the Kwara State Government of providing misleading assurances regarding regional security. The forum stated that despite previous efforts, residents are facing persistent attacks, kidnappings, and displacement, noting that many markets have closed and villages have been deserted due to the insecurity.
