Kwara State farmers endorse Tinubu and AbdulRazaq for 2027

Approximately 40,000 registered farmers and their families in Kwara State have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The endorsement, announced by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) during a media briefing in Ilorin, also includes support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s senatorial bid and the gubernatorial ambition of Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker Yakubu Danladi-Salihu.

AFAN officials cited Governor AbdulRazaq’s agricultural policies as the primary motivation for their decision. Key interventions highlighted by the association include the disbursement of ₦2 billion in loans to farmers affected by COVID-19, the distribution of maize palliatives to 10,000 beneficiaries, and subsidies for drought-resistant seeds, herbicides, and fertilizers.

Additional programs noted by the group include the 2024 Agricultural Fair, tractorization support, and participation in developmental initiatives such as the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS), Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), and Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ).
