Kwara State Police arrest 22 suspects in kidnapping and murder case

The Kwara State Police Command in Nigeria announced the arrest of 16 suspects during a stop‑and‑search operation on July 20, 2026, seizing mobile phones, power banks and watches. Among those detained were three minors aged 14‑17, who were placed in a juvenile correctional centre.

In a related investigation, police also apprehended six members of a kidnap syndicate linked to the abduction and killing of 29‑year‑old cattle owner Sulaiman Rilwan. After suspect Jamiu Mohammed confessed, investigators recovered Rilwan’s body from an abandoned well in Offa. Five additional suspects were arrested, while one remains at large and a firearm used in the crime is still being sought. Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi briefed the media on the progress of the cases and the recovery of the victim’s body.
