Kwara State Police Arrest Four Suspected Cult Members in Ijagbo
The Kwara State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit carried out a coordinated raid on June 11 2026 in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area, arresting four individuals suspected of belonging to the outlawed Eiye confraternity. Among those taken into custody was Idowu Akorede, identified by police as the alleged leader (referred to as the “Capone”) of the group.
Police said the suspects resisted arrest by attacking officers with broken bottles but were subdued without injury. The men have been transferred to Ilorin for further investigation, and authorities say they will continue efforts to locate additional members of the criminal network.
The operation was described as a breakthrough in the state’s campaign against cult‑related violence and robbery, with the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, praising the officers for their professionalism.
