Kwara State Police arrest suspects for illegal arms and kidnapping

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with illegal arms possession and kidnapping. During a press briefing in Ilorin, Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo announced the arrest of Joseph Adeoye, 52, and Issa Fatai, 35, following a surveillance operation near Ojatuntun Market. Police recovered a locally made, cut-to-size pistol from Adeoye; Fatai was identified as the intended buyer. Both suspects reportedly admitted to their involvement in the transaction.

Additionally, authorities arrested Abubakar Usman, also known as Jaye, a wanted suspect linked to kidnapping incidents in the Oke-Ode and Oro-Ago areas, as well as the killing of members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria. Usman was apprehended at the Jebba Cattle Market on October 11. Investigations also link him to a May 2025 incident in Labaka village where suspected kidnappers escaped after gunfire was discharged. Usman is also accused of demanding a N10m ransom from a member of a cattle-rearing association.
