Kwasi Poku joins Vancouver Whitecaps from RWDM Brussels
Canadian international striker Kwasi Poku has transferred from Belgian club RWDM Brussels to Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps. He signed a contract that runs through the 2027‑28 season with a club option for 2028‑29. The Whitecaps sporting director Axel Schuster announced the deal, noting Poku’s pace, intelligent movement and finishing ability.
Poku recorded six goals in 31 appearances for RWDM between 2024 and 2026. Prior to that he spent three seasons with Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 70 matches (47 starts) from 2022‑24. He earned his first senior cap for Canada on 15 Oct 2024, coming off the bench in a 2‑1 friendly win over Panama. Meanwhile, RWDM is in judicial reorganization after accruing about €20 million in debt, losing its Challenger Pro League licence and moving to the amateur level, prompting a wave of player departures.
