KwaZulu-Natal reports 18 councillor assassinations since 2021

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has revealed that at least 18 local government councillors have been assassinated across the province since the 2021 municipal elections. The disclosure follows the fatal shooting of eThekwini Municipality Councillor Sibusiso Khwela.

Khwela was killed at his constituency office in Klaarwater, west of Durban, while meeting with community members.
