Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu granted bail over EOCO death threats

An Accra Circuit Court has granted Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu, a marketer and communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), bail in the amount of GH¢100,000. Asiedu is facing charges of threat of death, offensive conduct, and the publication of false information.

The prosecution alleges that in a video recorded on May 29, 2026, Asiedu threatened the lives of staff members from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), stating, “We know the officers’ houses, we know where they stay and will kill you.”

Additionally, Asiedu is accused of disseminating false information regarding a directive from the Presidency concerning the treatment of Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who was in EOCO custody. The prosecution claims these actions were intended to provoke a breach of peace and undermine the lawful duties of EOCO officials. The court has ordered Asiedu to deposit his passport and a photocopy of his Ghana Card, and he must report to investigators on the last Friday of every month. The case is adjourned until November 3, 2026.
