Kyiv faces increased threat from new Russian jet-driven drones

Russia has introduced new jet-driven drones, such as the Geran-4, which travel at speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour. These weapons are significantly faster than previous models, reducing the warning time for residents in Kyiv to as little as 10–15 minutes and challenging existing Ukrainian defense systems.

In Kyiv, the shift in tactics includes attacks occurring during the day and around the clock, rather than primarily at night. This change is causing increased psychological stress among the population. Additionally, the intensity of strikes remains high; a recent 40-hour period saw nearly 448 drones and missiles directed at the capital.

The attacks are also impacting logistics and food security. Approximately 80 percent of the logistics centers for Kyiv’s grocery stores have been hit or disrupted, leading to shortages of essential goods like flour and sugar. These developments suggest a challenging winter ahead for the city's infrastructure and residents.
