Ukraine faces intensified Russian drone and missile attacks FAST-MOVING

Russia has intensified its aerial campaign against Ukraine, significantly increasing the frequency and lethality of strikes on civilian infrastructure and urban centers. In Kyiv, the situation has become increasingly dangerous as Russian forces deploy new, fast-moving combat drones equipped with jet propulsion. Ukrainian air defenses currently lack an effective countermeasure for the Geran-5 drone type.

Recent strikes have caused significant casualties. In Kyiv, a Friday saw 10 alarms over nine hours, resulting in seven deaths and 59 injuries, while a Sunday saw over 18 hours of alarms, leaving three dead and a dozen injured. Beyond the capital, strikes in Sumy killed three people, including a 16-year-old girl, and attacks in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk also resulted in multiple deaths and injuries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over the past week, Russia launched more than 2,200 attack drones, 1,650 glide bombs, and 38 missiles. These attacks have targeted essential daily infrastructure, including food warehouses, pharmacies, and data centers. In response to the escalating threat, Kyiv has implemented emergency protocols, such as using metro stations as bomb shelters and suspending school lessons during air raid alerts.
