Kyiv hit by massive Russian missile and drone strikes

Russia launched a massive aerial assault on Kyiv and its surrounding region, utilizing more than 40 cruise missiles and over 160 drones. The strikes resulted in at least 16 deaths and dozens of injuries. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that residential buildings, a school, and a children's hospital were damaged during the attack.

Zelensky characterized the use of ballistic missiles as a significant escalation and a major challenge for Ukrainian defenses. He issued an urgent plea to Western allies for additional interception capabilities, specifically requesting more Patriot missile systems to counter the increasing threat.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its targets included a factory belonging to the Ukrainian drone manufacturer Fire Point, Antonov aerospace facilities, and various logistics warehouses.
