Kyiv implements electronic warfare shield against Shahed drones

Ukraine has constructed an electronic warfare protective dome over Kyiv to intercept remote-controlled Shahed drones. Serhii Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Ukrainian President on defense technologies, stated that the system is designed to disrupt MESH radio communications used by operators to guide drones from within Russian territory.

The large-scale operation involved installing equipment and antennas at hundreds of locations across the capital within a few weeks. The project was a collaborative effort involving the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Security and Defense Council, and various military units, with continuous oversight from the President.

Beskrestnov described the implementation as technically and logistically complex. He noted that the deployment has forced Russia to pause and seek new technical solutions or modernizations for its drone technology. Specific data regarding the number of devices installed or the exact range of the defense system were not disclosed.
