Kyiv officials advise food stockpiling after logistics infrastructure strikes

Authorities in Kyiv have advised residents to maintain a 7 to 12-day supply of food and drinking water due to ongoing strikes on logistics infrastructure. Anatoliy Katerenchuk, head of the Kyiv State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, issued the recommendation to prepare for potential supply interruptions while cautioning against panic-buying or hoarding large quantities of goods for months.

The advisory follows a series of targeted strikes on major Ukrainian retail and distribution networks. Reports indicate significant damage to the logistics chains of several large companies. Fozzy Group has reportedly suffered hits to at least 10 distribution centers, affecting brands such as Silpo and Fora. Similarly, the VARUS retail chain has experienced multiple strikes on its warehouses and logistics partners in the Kyiv region.

Estimates suggest that over 650,000 square meters of logistics centers in the Kyiv region have been destroyed over a six-month period. Despite these disruptions to the supply chain, officials maintain that there is no imminent threat of a national food shortage, noting that Ukraine's grain reserves remain sufficient.
